Guaranteed Provenance
The world’s most premium species of Octopus, the Western Rock Octopus, is only found in the pristine waters off the coast of Western Australia.
The scientific name Octopus djinda, meaning star, is borrowed from the Noongar people, traditional custodians of the land in Western Australia. First identified as a unique species in 2021, previously classified under Octopus tetricus, it is renowned for its excellent taste, texture and consistent high cooking yield.
The superior taste profile is attributed to a diet consisting of lobster, blue crabs, abalone, prawns and scallops, all abundant in the coastal waters it inhabits. With a short lifespan of only 9 to 15 months, this species effectively replenishes its biomass annually.
A nutritional powerhouse, high in protein, rich in iron, while low in carbohydrates and fat, it provides essential nutrients, including vitamins B6, BI2, copper, selenium and Omega-3 fatty acids.
